Charlotte Rogers (she/her) is a director and theatre-maker from Nipaluna/Hobart based in London.

She works across new work, established scripted theatre, adaptation and devising processes, drawn to dynamic contemporary scripts and vibrant stagings of classic texts. Most of her work is rhythmic, narrative-focused, formally experimental, and boldly visual. She is passionate about creating positive, generative creative spaces that foster compassion and exploration, and places music and movement at the centre of her practice.

Her work has been presented at Theatre503, LAMDA, Athens Conservatoire, La Mama, Union House Theatre, Melbourne Fringe Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Meat Market.

A co-founder of Short Straw Theatre Company, she has directed their productions of The Effect, Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons and Salad Day / Love in a Glass Jar. Her other directing credits include Playfight, All I’m Saying, Dirty Old Town, Cosí and Lord of the Flies.

 

She is an experienced assistant director across theatre, opera and musical theatre. Recent assistant directing roles include The Waves (dir. Júlia Levai, Jermyn Street Theatre), 1972: The Future of Sex (dir. Seán Linnen, LAMDA), Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (dir. Suzanne Chaundy, Melbourne Opera), Alice by Heart (dir. Alessandra Davison, LAMDA/Edinburgh Festival Fringe), As You Like It (dir. Roger Hodgman, Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens), and Summer of the Seventeenth Doll (dir. Petra Kalive, Union House Theatre).

 

Charlotte holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, English & Theatre Studies from the University of Melbourne.  She is currently undertaking an MA in Directing at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
